I got the idea from one of the many, many Arthurian legends out there, about how Nimhue trapped Merlin in a hawthorn tree, which he is supposedly still trapped in today. I didn't, obviously, really follow that, since Merlin traps himself in the tree, and he's the one who gets himself out, but I thought it deserved mention.

My mom is an Arthurian nerd. I've been raised on this sort of thing.
