Title: An Assortment of Emotions
Author: [livejournal.com profile] snowdarkred
Word Count: ~200
Paring: Kirk/McCoy
Rating: Ranging from PG to PG-13ish.
Author's Note: Just something I saw somewhere and thought I'd try. Genres include: Angst, AU, Crack, Crossover, First Time, Fluff, Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Smut, and UST.

Summary: Star Trek XI. Ten genres in 20 words each. Kirk/McCoy.

An Assortment of Emotions

Angst

Leonard looked away as the casket was lowered. “Good-bye, Jim.” He turned away. He didn't want to see the tears.

AU

“Dammit, Jim!” he shouted. “I'm a private investigator, not a doctor!” Jim grinned wearily at him from behind his desk.

Crack!

McCoy ignored the pleading look. He wouldn't give in. “No, Jim. You're a dog. You sleep in the doggie bed.”

Crossover

“Um, boss?” Tony DiNozzo said. He looked around. “I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. Not that we were before.”

First Time

McCoy leaned over him, examining his handiwork. Kirk felt each bruise, each hickey, each mark. It felt like coming home.

Fluff

Jim woke when the door opened. It was Bones, a tray held in his hands.

“Breakfast in bed,” he smiled.

Humor

“Jim,” McCoy snarled dangerously. “Did you try to do the laundry again?”

“...No?”

“Then why is all my underwear pink?”

Hurt/Comfort

McCoy held Kirk's bandaged hand tightly. The heart monitor beeped steadily.

“You'll be alright,” he whispered. There was no response.

Smut

Jim panted and twisted, his eyelashes fluttering. Sweat pooled along his collar bones. Leonard leaned forward and licked it off.

UST

Jim looked up and caught Bones's eye. They stared at each other, frozen, before time restarted. They looked away sharply.

Awesome!

Each line is like a perfect prompt within that genre. What a creative thing to do! With just a few words you establish the setting, the rolls the characters play, and (of course) the overall emotion. This really illustrates the importance of word choice...each one is so important when you're only working with a few.

That's pretty fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! I was originally was going to do ten words, but I just couldn't fit what I wanted to into it. I think this worked out much better! <3

NCIS/STXI? DO EET!

God, I feel like I've been gone from this fandom forever. I'm somewhat intimidated by the sheer amount of fic that's probably been written I wandered around last. *gulp*

Thanks for reading! <3

Glad to see you writing again, these were really wonderful! That first one shocked me a bit, then you had me giggling with the crossover bit.

Oh my God! Okay, the first one made me cry (literally. And I'm on a public computer), the Crack made me laugh and I will be visiting this later when I'm depressed, the Humor was wonderful in that I can sooo imagine genius Kirk sucking at something so simple as laundry, and all together you are my Hero Of The Day!

LOL, thank you! I imagine that Kirk looked at old fashion laundry machines, thought 'Well, it can't be that hard,' and then utter failing at it.
