I totally understand how you feel. I go to a private Catholic college, and in my friend group we have an asexual, two gay men, a lesbian, and a bisexual (plus the however-many heterosexuals). People at our school aren't cruel, necessarily, but they're ignorant.
Don't worry about those people, they aren't worth your time and energy. :)
