Title: Waking Up
Author: snowdarkred
 Rating/Warnings: G, none
Aithor's Note: Doom xover. This is just a tiny bite-sized fic to satisfy my muse, since I'm too busy with my other xover to do the Reaper!Bones concept justice. So I wrote an itty-bitty one instead.

Waking Up

Reaper woke up everyday in Leonard McCoy's bed.

No, wait, that wasn't right.

John Grimm woke up every morning in Leonard McCoy's bed.

That wasn't right either.

Leonard McCoy woke up every sunrise in Leonard McCoy's bed.

That wasn't it....

Bones woke up in Leonard McCoy's bed everyday at daybreak.

There.

He ignored the part of him that whispered that something was still off.

I read fluff to. A lot. :D There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. XD I love it, I'm just nearly incapable of writing it. I'm so mean to out boys T.T

I've been toying with an AU of an AU (of a Roman period piece that I've been working on. Jimmy can't decide what to do, and both are very good options). I tend to write long, so another point of the snippets is to learn how to limit myself. XD It's very hard, but I was proud that I got everything I wanted to in this snippet across in nine sentences and 5o something words.

I love love love epics though. XD I love reading them and writing them (even though they're a pain in the ass sometimes). I'm addicted to all of the epic long fics that this fandom produces.

I read a lot of fluff because I need to unwind, especially after writing the angst that happens in most of my writing.

I keep thinking "Okay, so if I'm writing an AU where Kirk's a girl...and then I write another version of it where Bones is Reaper..." Then I start getting a headache.

I'm working on something that's just about an epic right now. I don't dare to a word count right now. It'd make me cry. LOL

I usually have a word count so I'll know roughly how much more is floating in my head. My Reaper!Bones has about 2K, but it's going to be at least 13K, most likely more. It makes me want to write more in it. XD But if a fic ends sooner than I thought it would, I don't drag it out. These things must flow naturally.

Have you ever had the urge to write something epic for a tiny fandom, just because? I have been battling this urge for two + weeks. T.T I don't have time for it.

I never know how much is floating in my head. I figured my big bang would barely make 15K and now I'm at (does the word count *whimper*) Um...if my word count is right, it's 36K. Though that might change when my beta gets it.

Most of the stuff I wrote in the early days was aspects of a large fandom but a very small niche of it. I wrote a couple of longer fics for it and I'm proud of them, though I cringe over some of the mistakes I made. I dunno if I'd do it again. I think it'd depend on how hard the bunny bit me.

I definitely look back at what I've written before and wince. These past few years, I've grown tremendously as a writer, and it shows. My longest fic to date is the Matrix AU (coming in at 15K+ at 4 chapters XD), and my longest completed story is only 13K (only. Phhhft. I'm pathetic sometimes.)

36K sounds awesomely long :D I don't do challenges with deadlines, mainly because the minute someone slaps a time frame on it, my brain shuts down and my muses flee for the hills.

Plot bunnies are evil in their tendency to bite instead of merely wave from afar. Why must they be so violent?

Normally I have the same opinion of challenges, but the Trek one was too tempting and I needed something to distract me from real life. It worked a little too well.

I think plot bunnies must actually be some sort of carnivore.

:( Distractions are sad but necessary. It's my first semester of college, so things are a little stressful, and fanfic helps me vent.

Plot bunnies are definitely carnivores. They lure you in with their cuteness and them BAM. They attack like a vampire (a proper vamp, not a Twilight 'vampire') and suck away you're life force, slowly draining you energy... They're like that bunny from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie, only crazier.

LOL Mine usually look like the one in my icon. I call it my Sam!bunny because I'm sure that all my SpN bunnies look like that.

Then I found Trek and got an avalanche of plot tribbles.

And vampires should NOT sparkle. It's just wrong.

Yeah, vampires REALLY shouldn't sparkle. I'm okay with people stretching the lore and stuff--some of my favorite fics and books do that wonderfully--but sparkling???? WTF?? Plus, the whole, "Eat me, Edward! All you talk about is how you want to rip my throat out! Do it!" Seriously, if a character is going to be that accepting of it, there should be a reason besides 'true love'.

LOL!!!!!

But then their epic stalking wouldn't be true love. I admit, I enjoyed reading Twilight as the pure train wreck that it was, but when I was done I was thinking "And people are calling this a healthy relationship? WTH?"

I read Twilight before Twilight was cool. I thought it was 'meh' and kind of addicting in a braincrack kinda way. But I only somewhat like the first one. By the forth I was just like DDDDDDDDD: WHAT?

I made it through the first two and then gave up. I have no idea what happened in the end but I heard it was awful.

It was. Vampire babies. Half-Vampire Babies. That eat you from the inside out. (Like in Alien, but lower. Ew.) And Bella is a Perfect Vampire, who doesn't even go through the fun crazy newborn stage. Because she's perfect like that. :C And Edward and Bella have sex, even though it was establish early on that that would be dangerous. And apparently, Bella likes rough sex, which is more than I wanted to know about her, to be honest.

In short, it's awful.

The awful thing is that the vampire baby thing kind of makes sense. It IS a vampire so...

I don't mind a little kink (or even a lot of kink depending on the kink) but that just seems wrong. LOL

I kept trying to figure out how Bella could be a vamp with her phobia. And I kinda thought that she wanted to be a vamp just because she didn't want to grow old. Which kind of ruins the supposedly epic love story.

She did not wanna be old. She freaked out when she turned 18 and again when she turned 19. Considering this, and the fact that she always says 'me me me' --and the fact that Edward can't 'hear' her, which means she really is thoughtless-- I'd say that it sounds like she figured it out and decided that she really didn't want to grow up and be a real girl. Or something.

I've read vampire books where the herione basically says 'come and get me, big boy' after a short time, there is a reason for it. Not OMG TRU LURV, HURHUR. *facepalm*

-and the fact that Edward can't 'hear' her, which means she really is thoughtless--

LOL! I never thought about that! It makes perfect sense!

I always thought that all the author's attempts at making Bella look smart were just that, attempts. She never acted intelligently and all the focus on her 'great' literary mind were just there as window dressing. She read books that other people said were great and what was expected for a moody girl of that age. (Which, btw, I NEVER read at that age. Which is probably because I wasn't a moody teenage girl).

I like vampire books and I've read a lot of cheesy vampire romances but Twilight had the worst reasoning of them.

The things, I read (I am of similar age to Bella) but if I don't like a book, I don't care if it's one of the Classics, I don't care. It always felt like the author had looked the plot of the books up on sparknotes, rather than read them herself.

Also, it never seemed like the ever sat down and got to know each other before they got hitched (after which, they finally had sex, and apparently Edward is a 90 year old virgin). They knew each other for 2 years? What? That's little quick to decide that you want to spend ETERNITY with someone.

From: [identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com
LOL She probably did. I thought they were cliched choices for a girl that was supposed to be a 'romantic' without any real insights on her character. (Or lack of it).

Of course he was a virgin. That way they were each other's first (I'm assuming). I was with my ex for 6 yrs before he finally proposed an I still was like "OMG!" when it happened. They never got to know each other. They were too busy stalking each other to do that.
