The Good, the Bad, and the - shit, this is gonna turn into an FML entry, isn't it?

The good: I HAVE A JOB! Admittedly not a very exciting job - I'm a hostess at an Asian restaurant near my house - but at least it's a job, right? \o/ My feet hurt, my boss is kind of an asshole, but I have an income! And that, my friends, is very good news.

The SO-SO: My computer was out of commission for a while - I may or may not have fried the little bugger - but it's back now. Hopefully it'll keep going for a few more months, because I have no money with which to replace it. Sadly, almost all of the pics on here are gone - including my icons and some of the banners and stuff that people have made for me over the years, which sucks - but my stepdad somehow managed to save most of my documents....WHICH MEANS THAT I WON'T HAVE TO START OVER ON MY BIGBANG....not that I had much to begin with. But, just in case you were wondering, the broken computer thing was why I haven't been around in the past week. That and the job. Rather time consuming, as I'm sure you know.

The Bad: I am so far behind on all my writing projects. Like, wow, goddamn, I'm really far behind. I hardly have anything written at all. Oops.

The Worse: Leto, my biggest dog, has shown signs of limping again, and I honestly don't know what we're going to do if his shoulders are acting up again. We already spent an obscene amount of money getting him a surgery for last time; if he's still in pain, we may have to put him down. D:

The FUCK MY LIFE: I paid my college tuition, looked at my bank account, and cried. Goddamn, I don't know how I'm going to make it for another year. My job pays good - 7 buck an hour - but I have no financial help in paying for books or tuition or anything, and I can't work all the time. I still have to eat and go places and occasionally buy a used book, or I might go crazy. And I don't know how much longer my little computer will keep going. Though, thanks to anruiukimi 's help, I found a place where I might be able to replace her if she fails again without selling my soul or prostitution. :D

The fact is, life sucks. FML.

Uh, that doesn't sound good :/ Isn't there any kind of student loans or scholarships or something that you can take? (have no clue how things like that works in USA)

I'm shit out of luck for scholarships for another year - I messed up my record with an epic fail last semester due to an emotional break down - and I'm putting off student loans for as looooong as possible. I've been looking at writing contests though, seeing how much I could make if I won one. But it's just a thought. :)

It was no surprise to me that I'm a Highly Dorky Nerd Queen. ;) I am such a dork, I just built a bookcase for my DVDs/comics. :P

I know all about failing due to emotional break downs :/ They're so shitty, because they destroy things when you have them and they destroy things months after when you can't get enough money or haven't done enough credits and so on :(

In Sweden we have the National Board of Student Aid, which is a government agency that takes care of student loans and student support. The full support is part allowance and part loan, with loan being the majority, and it's pretty much impossible to study at some kind of higher education without it. Education in Sweden is free, but you have to eat and pay rent, and it's quite hard to get part-time jobs here.

I hope things improve financially for you. I can even imagine having to pay tutition up-front. Here in Australia we have a government supported scheme, where fees for domestic students are heavily subsidised for the majority of places and paying these fees can be put into your taxes, to be paid when you reach a high enough tax bracket, and without any interest (only indexing for inflation) - this means that students in Australia don't have to pay for their studies until they have a full-time job, and if they never earn more than $30K p.a. they'll probably never have to pay. I suppose, that's what a country can have with a population less than a tenth of the size of the US.

IDK - apply for the scholarships when you can. Is it possible to find a better paying job? $7 an hour seems REALLY low to me - but I never worked when I lived in the US and my parents were being paid by the Australian government, so I'm not sure what's standard over there. :S

7 an hour is good for the type of job - usually it's like 5.50 an hour or something - and I get free lunch, which is awesome - but it's not actually a whole lot. It'll cover my school, if I don't get too fancy with anything else. Like, ever. Working twenty hours, it'll get me $140 a week. It's not enough to live off of, but it'll do for school.

I applied to a lot of school, and got accepted, with scholarships, but a lot happened since, and I would have still had to pay a lot of money anyway. Luckily, the school I'm going to is a really cheep local college. :3 It'll do for my associate's degree, until I can move on to my goal school.

*hugs* I'm not dead! :P I supposed it would be rather worrying, to have multiple posts about how sick I felt and then to disappear for a week. Oops.

I used to have a really, really nice scholarship, last year, but I lost it after I had the Ten Weeks of Crazy, because I had to drop all of my class after the withdraw deadline. It pretty much screwed my GPA. I'm on my own, for now.

Also, I'm writing Leverage fic! And it's turning out thinky! Do you want me to send you the bit I have so far? It's only 300 words at this point.... :3

IDEA TO SAVE YOUR FIC(s): Use Google Docs. Seriously. I'd have never started writing again if I hadn't discovered it, and I don't have to carry my fic from workplace to workplace to work on it. If you need some server space for general backup, I'd be happy to lend you some. :)
