once i knew you
i know the kiss of your sweet lips
i know the hiss of your fury
and i know your long tired sigh
but once i knew you
once i knew your laugh
and now i know your contempt
it burns at me like a coal’s flickering heat
and turns my lungs to ashes
once i knew you
i knew everything
now i need an atlas just to find myself
i know how wretched i sound
but oh, i don’t know you
once i knew you
