hi! a post about the delicious situation

i know i don't post here very often anymore; i'm trying to work on that by writing longer fic. which i'm working on. /mysterious

anyway, this is just a quick note about the whole mess with delicious and everyone freaking out, etc.

i moved all my bookmarks to pinboard, and i've got everything up and running over there. feel free to network with me if you already have an account.

• the great migration spreadsheet, which lets you track down people who have different user names on different sites (i don't have that problem, obviously)
• the suggestion doc (basically, people are talking directly to the guy who runs pinboard and offering suggestions)

You're welcome! I'm super happy with my pinboard experience so far, so that's good. And I think it's cool that the guy who runs it is being so supportive and involved.

He responded to a support email in TWO MINUTES! Checking out what he's said in twitter and my own interaction with him, he seems pretty awesome.

I've been checking out pinboard a bit, and it seems pretty good. How much does it work like "old" delicious when it comes to tagging (e.g. can you make group tags and stuff?) and the network system? New Delicious just makes me crazy. Except for the fact that it fucks up everything it's ugly as hell. (And why do I have a cartoon cat as a profile pic? :S I liked Delicious' simple layout :/)

It is pretty good! It's super fast and doesn't seem to have many bugs. The guy running it is super involved.

It doesn't have bundled tags like the old delicious did, but there's a strong possibility that something like it will be added. Pinboard guy is very keen on listening to what fandom wants. (as well he should, because I estimate that he's gotten at least three thousand dollars these past few days. At least.

There is a network system, but you can't see other people's networks. However, you can connect with people and see what they're saving, and they with you.

The new delicious layout is ugly as sin, holy fuck.
